KU Research Activity and Collaboration with Industry
The University of Kansas (KU) encourages an environment that sparks
intellectual energy and embraces the pursuit of knowledge. As the state's
flagship institution, KU has forged a tradition of excellence in its
mission to serve as a center for learning, scholarship, and creative
endeavor. Research and technology transfer play integral roles in that
mission.
The National Science Foundation classifies KU as a major university
where a wide range of basic and applied research topics are pursued.
The Rise of American Research Universities, published in 1997 by John
Hopkins University Press, cites KU as one of 21 "rising stars" among
public research universities.
It is important to KU and its research enterprise to partner with
business and industry. Collaborating on sponsored projects and transferring
technology for public use are part of the University's goal of being
a leader in addressing the issues and challenges facing the state of
Kansas and beyond.
See KU Achievements for current KU technology transfer metrics.
